Missing letters...

I miss the letters… (not that I used to get plenty… I'm not so old either!) but it’s just that once in a while.. I used to find myself staring at the handwritten pages which usually made me smile… quiver.. Sometimes cry.. And sometimes even furious! But none the less.. It beats the electronic emoticons and animated smileys we have got accustomed to.

Ah.. the emoticons… They are everywhere now!

Shouts.. Murmurs… gossips.. Screeches.. Everything is ruled by these tiny figures.

I saw its addiction extent when smileys could be seen all over the slides on a corporate presentation given by my colleague. Even though the senior management did not comment on it directly, his manager did ask him to “keep it professional” the next time.. and I guess the guy still doesn't know what it was all about!

I could not contain my laughter.. and literally (or figuratively?) did ROFL (Rolling on the floor laughing) when I asked a gal.. my acquaintance (Courtesy.. BMTC bus) HER story of getting into a relationship recently.

It so happened that the story started with them chatting over phone in an social networking app (let me not do the marketing without being paid.. by mentioning their name)

While chatting, the girl apparently sent a kissing smiley (:*) instead of usual one by mistake (the one with colon and closing bracket… if you don’t know what “usual” one is!)

And the guy took it as an yes from her end and the next moment they were in a relationship (according to their FB status)

Ah! What a beautiful love story (Sarcasm.. if you couldn't recognize it)!

And here we are.. Expecting the guy in shining armor to write poems and letters for us….

Well.. so much for the letters and poems running up to pages!
