My tradition for NYE

Its that day of the year again when people start looking at pictures and videos created by facebook, shed a tear at the way life has turned out to be (good or otherwise) and make resolutions.

I'm not a big fan of resolutions because frankly, I don't think anyone will remember what resolution they made on 1st day of the year. I suspect them to say something was their resolution when people start asking them why they have changed their lifestyle and they just don't want to give explanations anymore or better.. they have achieved something they had not possibly thought at the start

My routine for last day of the year is quite simple (and now that I completed 5 years in my current company, it has become a tradition)

I start with looking at the first email of the ending year (now - 2019). I take a glance at all the work I've been a part of throughout the year and email / ping few folks I've lost touch with. I then create a folder of that year under archive and push ALL emails.

It is nostalgic how things turn out but what makes it amazing is your perseverance along the journey and the lives you have touched.

I'm looking at the little one peeping into my laptop while I type this. She thinks I'm still working and is being patient. So here is my cliché'd resolution for this year(which I will hopefully fulfill) - I want to spend as much time as possible with this munchkin next year (making up for all the time lost in this) and spoil her with more books and stories that she will cherish for rest of her life!

What is yours?
