Money Management? No thanks!

"Money management" read the recent mail I received from the HR of my company and I thought "Oh Please!! I know my limits! And who would want to attend such a program? Maybe its loaded with all kinds of stuff on IT, Shares blah blah… and as usual.. I'm not interested (As long as my account has enough balance to support me with the online shopping I've got addicted to!)”

My husband on the day of our marriage said.. "Guess you don’t save either! We are finished" and it made me furious! How can he comment on me when he doesn't save? But he does.. (For most of the part) and I never admit it in front of him (like a typical wife..) I'm determined now… to save too!

I am reading a forward from one of my college friends… a list of things we need to do for being "happy”. I see a bigg list (an extra ‘g’ for the number of items in it).. List I'm not interested in.. Until I arrive at a point which says.. "Reward yourself to small accomplishments.. And it shall motivate you to do better"

Well… I need to reward myself for being such a nice wife!

Kurta selected.. Order placed and received confirmation for delivery to my home in 2 working days!... REWARD!!!

I need to reward myself for being able to land on a new job… !

Chocolate bought (a big and invariably expensive one at that)... And eaten! REWARD!)

I have spent comparatively less the previous month! (We were on vacation.. sponsored by my husband) but nonetheless need to reward myself for that… Overlooking the fact that I shall not be paid for this month as per my company policy (for leaving such a heavenly place maybe..!)

New shiny sandals… which still make my feet look oddly out of shape.. But I've been craving for it ever since I thought of rewarding myself :p !.. Taken!! REWARD!!!

Now.. I go to the ATM to draw some money for my ride way back home and the machine throws an error message "You have insufficient balance in your account to make this transaction"

I stare at it in disbelief… call up my husband… make up stories as to why I need him to drive 20Kms just to pick me up… I cannot wait for him all the while on road.. So I grab my bags and whatever change I'm left with… enter a Coffee day and order my favorite chocolate brownie (SO hungry coz of all the shopping! Uff!)! :D REWARD! Yay! (In hushes…)

Husband arrived… thought I would explain but I had already made arrangement for keeping him busy.. Paying the bill. So.. The You-ought-to-be-more-cautious lecture was postponed to being done in the car.. privately :p (But I had to give him my credit and debit card for 3 whole months… as part of the challenge we had few days ago..)

Next day.. I barge to my office and the 1st thing I do is…. Enroll for the money management course… cursing the online shopping inventors… and the CCD owners.. For their exceptional business ideas!

Not fair! Isn’t it??
