“There
is a new bake counter that has come up in our cafeteria!” My
colleague is as excited as a kid with new toy
It’s
a regular day in office and I’m oddly hesitant about anything changing around
me.Being
a change agent (as my profile reads) I know it’s a bit of an irony.
But
be it the tooth brush to be kept in a certain place out of the three compartments in stand to having the
mess in my room in a certain fashion, yes! I am a control freak!
Anyway,
I go to the new bake counter with my critic goggles ON. “The brownies look old”
I retort. My colleague sighs and slightly nods her head in disbelief (she knows
what I prefer.. the dirty old counter where the waiter would hand over my usual chilly cheese sandwich with a chuckle)
We
are in a queue to place order for a simple garden veg sandwich. The crowd is
going crazy looking at the options (I wonder how many of them have left an
important job at desk to be here)
The
lady at the counter is a very jazzy kind with more smiles for the men placing
orders. She takes her own sweet time to neatly unwrap things, put them in the oven
and then neatly pack it for them again saying “hope you have a nice day!”
We
share a quick glace and it’s more like “hate at first sight” (and i think its mutual).
It’s
our turn to place order. She opens the wrapper and hands it over in a plate. I
ask her for a grilled one and she glares as though it’s my “strike one”
She
hands over the grilled sandwich along with one tiny ketchup packet. I ask her for an
additional one and I know it’s my strike two!
She
announces the bill amount and its heavily overpriced! I handover a 1000
bucks and she lets out a fume of air asking for change (years have passed by
and we still struggle with these!) it’s my strike three and I tell her to “go
to hell” in my mind while my colleague pays for it in exact change.
We
are back to our work desk and there is a mail asking us to rate the new counter (for assessing the customer satisfaction) and
I know what I’m giving her.. After all, her three strikes were done too!!
