"That's so not right! How can someone fake it and get along so easily?!"
I'm arguing with my husband angrily (No surprises there!)
We are at the mega store for shopping. We went there initially to buy some eatables that i can stand but ended up with two large bags which had everything from face powder to bathroom slippers! (The marketing team might be pretty happy with the result even though my husband was obviously not.. !)
The bill payment counter reminds me of my college days where one old man would sit and take the receipt for verification of fee payment. He was visually impaired (maybe in the final stages of losing vision) and would just not budge in case we wanted to assist - just to shorten the time. The mega store has hired a teen who is obviously having issues with the AC not getting her enough cool air (Hello.. we all are!) and she's obviously trying to take her frustration out. 5 people after me is a old lady (Who was very energetic during shopping as i spotted but as soon as she saw the time its taking for the girl to give off the packed items, she might have got a heart attack or something closer). She suddenly makes a fuss, demands for a chair and gets her items billed immediately.
She smirked (or so did i feel!) just before exiting the store leaving behind people who were either wondering she faked it or prayed for her to recover soon.
I can only get to the counter after 6 more when my husband steps out to take a call. The security is approaching a section closer to where i'm standing and i make sure he notices that i have the baby bump (Which i usually try to hide). I try looking helpless trying to catch a glimpse of my husband who is busy on the phone
The security takes a quick look outside, nods his heads unbelieving (might be thinking - What a douche!) He immediately speaks to one of the store guys secretively, calls me aside, does a separate billing in one of the computers (which they were claiming was out of order) and lets me out of the store with a fatherly nod.
My husband is obviously surprised that i'm out of the store so soon. He hangs up and asks - "What happened there? How did you finish off so soon?"
And i try to smother it off saying "well.. the other computer was working after all!" (I at least did not fake my pregnancy!)
