"These are too many! I told you not to do that!"
My husband seems furious at the number of baby pics I have taken after I gave him my phone to look at ONE! (While we are at the topic; when we give our cellphone to look at a picture.. It's to look at that particular pic and not scroll till you look at the entire album and finally stop at an embarrassing one before returning the phone)
Maternity leaves as my manager explained was for building a connection with the baby (Its not always love-at-first sight! remember?). They are also for recovering yourself from the shock (Of your changed self.. changed sizes and of hormone foreplay yet again)
But among all this, you do get into a situation where you are too exhausted to sleep and too lazy to get up and exercise (thanks to moms pampering). So what do you do? Of course! we have a camera that can take pictures and videos to our hearts content
As a teenager, i always had angry glances at my parents for not having "enough" pics from my childhood (That was for me to assure i was cute once upon a time). My sister now has the same complaints only that she's asking the pics to show the world she was cute by posting in social media. No matter the intentions, its never "enough" . (i might listen to the same complaints from my daughter few years down the lane for all you know)
In between our heated argument, there is a call coming through and i receive it to just let my husband hang in there with his thoughts. Its my ex-colleague who seems to be excited giving me a news of having a baby girl. I congratulate and give him mine (I did miss him out in the "I had a girl" message list)
I do want to see how she looks (better than mine?) and ask him to send a picture
"No.. we are not really taking pics of the baby. Nazar lag jayegi" (roughly translated : she might catch an evil eye. )Yup! we do believe in it!
I can see my husband giving me a murderous look from the corner of eye (damn my phone! its almost like talking on speaker settings!)
I can hear my friend asking me for my daughters pic
"Well.. we haven't taken any pic either! you know the buri nazar " I instantaneously respond.
I immediately change my profile picture in whatsapp where i've put up a selfie with an annoyed daughter and a furious husband
